The Treasure of a Family Photo Session

So I will try not to be sappy and over sentimental, but it’s hard when I am talking about my family. See, we had the great privilege of being photographed by my dear friend Cindy Harter last week. And though I have often talked about the importance of documenting family relationships in art, I really didn’t know how much it would mean to my heart. The experience was so much more then I expected it to be- fun, silly, loving, happy, us. Cindy has no expectations of my kids being perfect. She gets that life is life, and it’s raw and real, and there are allergies, snotty noses, diva 4 year olds, and hot sun. She also gets that even though my family has it’s moments, well, I have my moments with them, that at the end of the day it’s all about us, this little unit of people that resides on a hill in Littleton, NH. And she captured that, the family thing. And when I see these images my heart does a little flip. I appreciate my husband who I am sure did not want to pose for pictures on a Friday afternoon after work- but he did it happily for me and because of his great attitude actually enjoyed it I think. I appreciate my kids who were beautiful and well behaved (mostly, except for the diva) and they seemed so happy being our happy. I appreciate us.

Have a family session. If it isn’t with me, then with a photographer who brings out the best in you and your family and only expects real life and nothing more. (I can do this very very well, so you should really book with me. :) ) Relax, don’t expect your kids to be perfect, just expect them to be them, and you be you, and you will have images to hang on your walls that will take your breath away every time you take a minute to look at it. I actually know first hand now what that feels like, and it feels like happy. Invest in happy, you will never ever regret it.

Thank you Cindy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Please leave a comment and tell Cindy how great a photographer she is!

A Few of my Senior Girls

I have been so incredibly privileged this year to meet all of these girls. Each one of them inspired me in a different way. Every one of them has made me leave the session thinking, “I LOVE my job, just LOVE it!” Thank you ladies, and thank you to all who I’ve met but whose images I haven’t edited yet. There are many more to come!

Okay, so….

I am a terrible blogger. I really want to be a good blogger, and I try, but…it’s sort of like exercise. It goes along okay for awhile and then something comes up and you put it on the back burner. Something like sleep, or maybe a dinner with the family, or even a mini vacation to the beach. And I would so love to say that I am back on the wagon and blogging again regularly, but, well, the truth is, I am so busy that sometimes something has to give. And it might be blogging.

For now, I have a few families that are waiting so patiently for a sneak peek. I am going to start with Miss Piper, who is a 2011 Senior, her family, and her horse. They live on a little bit of paradise in Whitefield, tucked back where no one would know their paradise exists. It’s beautiful, and made a spectacular setting for a combo senior/ family session.

If you’re reading, thanks for not abandoning my sadly neglected blog!
